In game 4 of BSS’s six game home stand, the Bruins beat Our Saviour’s of Jacksonville 5-2.   Tom Newell picked up his 2^nd win of the season, pitching 6 fine innings and giving up only 4 hits. In the 7^th inning, catcher David Wasser came in to close out the game, relieving Newell, who had thrown 100 pitches.

The Bruins scored their 5 runs on seven hits and five walks. Big bats were swung by Newell, who nailed a 1^st inning triple to the left center fence, and shortstop Tyler Casper who tripled to the same gap in the 4^th inning. Casper and second baseman Joey Huddleston each went 2 for 3.   John Von Behren smoked a huge single down the third base line in the 4^th to drive in two BSS runs.   Centerfield Trey Dhabalt racked up his 5^th walk of the season as the team’s lead off hitter.   Third baseman Grant Bitzer, who has been batting the 5^th slot, racked up his 9^th walk of the season.

Bruins fans were also treated to numerous BSS web gems. The 3^rd inning saw shortstop Casper, on back-to-back balls, run hard to his right, back towards the left field line, to rob OS of two hits. The 6^th inning saw first baseman Von Behren nab two pop flys, including a great catch of a foul pop up against the fence.   The 2^nd inning saw catcher Wasser picked off a sleeping OS runner at 1^st base and the 5^th inning saw Wasser throw out an OS runner trying to steal 2^nd base.   The 4^th inning saw center fielder Dhabalt throw to the plate in an attempt to nail the OS runner. Although the Bruins couldn’t stop the run, catcher Wasser took the throw and fired it back to Casper at 2^nd to nail the OS runner who tried to advance on Dhabalt’s throw to the plate.   The 7^th inning saw Casper knock down a ball and from the ground toss the ball back to 2^nd baseman Huddleston for a great out.
