Dear Parishioners,

When I reflect on the past seven years for which I have been blessed to be part of this parish, the image in my mind, first and always, is “family.”  Our Blessed Sacrament Parish is truly a family, beginning with those who came before us and first opened our school and then built our beautiful, magnificent church.  Our present family now enjoys those gifts in the heartwarming celebrations and grace of sacraments, in the joy of watching our children learn and grow together, and most importantly, in the very special times of prayer that fill our united hearts in the light of the Holy Spirit.

Six years ago, we joined together in repairing and renovating our church as we also prepared to celebrate our seventy-fifth anniversary.  The fruits of that labor, what we were able to accomplish with each other and with the help of God’s grace, still astounds me every day.  It amazes me in the moments when I am alone, watching the sunlight pour through the rose windows, and especially during Mass when God’s love just fills the whole church.

It is now time to focus on other important needs of our parish.  Following a long and careful process of analysis and problem-solving, we are prepared to conduct a capital campaign to generate funds needed to address the many needs of our whole parish – both church and school.

Thanks to you, we have made many important repairs and improvements to the existing school building, but the 84-year-old building is simply not enough to meet the needs of a growing school and parish.  We need more classroom and storage space.  I am especially concerned about our lack of adequate, accessible meeting areas for the many ministries our parishioners undertake. With the work of Advisory Committee volunteers, through discussions of our parish values, we found that a new library and media center, along with a new office wing and school gymnasium will help fill our needs for gathering spaces and growing opportunities.

Our campaign’s theme, “Building on Tradition,” captures both our rich history, honoring the generations before us who raised and nurtured our parish family, and our future, what we can and will become and then pass on to the next members of the family.

Let the Holy Spirit fill your heads with parish pride, faith and love. Let each one of us join in wholeheartedly and with gratitude to God, to give as much as we are able and make a real sacrifice, as did our founders.  Blessed Sacrament is the cornerstone of our community life.  Together, let us “build on our tradition” and fortify the gifts we have been given, that with God’s help and direction, we will continue to flourish as a faith community for generations to come.

God Love Ya!
