ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL – Preschool mornings begin at 8:30 a.m. Please bring your child between 8:20 and 8:30 (not before). Morning dismissal is at 11:00. Preschool afternoons begin at 12:00 p.m. Please bring your child between 11:50 and 12:00 (not before). Afternoon dismissal is at 2:30 p.m. Please pick up your child promptly. Bring your child inside and pick up your child from inside, using the Glenwood entrance.
ILLNESS – Please do not send your child to school if he/she has a fever or isn’t feeling well. Your child’s health, as well as the health of the other children, is important. If your child contracts a contagious disease (suck as chicken pox, lice, etc.), notify the school immediately so parents can be notified.
ALLERGIES - If your child has any allergies (food, bee stings, etc.), please let us know immediately. Also, inform us of any other special health problems that you feel we should know about.
SPARE CLOTHES - We recommend that the children wear play clothes, including comfortable shoes. In case of an accident or spill, we will have extra clothes at school to borrow. Please wash these and send them back in case they are needed again.
PICK-UP AUTHORIZATION – For your child’s safety we need to know who is authorized to pick up your child. You will be given a form to complete. Please keep us informed of any changes. Please let us know or call the school if anyone different will be picking up your child or if you are running late.
SCHOOL CALENDAR – We follow the same calendar as Blessed Sacrament School.
TUITION – Please pay by the first of the month for that month. You may send the check to school with your preschooler. Clip it securely to the outside of your child’s bag. Clothespins work well for this. You may also drop it off in the school office or mail it to the school office.
SCHOOL BAG – The school will provide a book bag for each new student. The book bag needs to be brought to school daily. We often have notes, paintings, art projects, etc. that get home more easily via the bag.
DISCIPLINE - The children are encouraged to work through and solve their own problems. They are talked to about acceptable and unacceptable behavior and about being kind and polite to each other (who all have Jesus in them). If a problem persists, the child will be moved to another interest area or will be given “time-out” for a minute or two. Handshakes and hugs help after the “fact”.
SNACKS – Nutritious snacks and drinks are provided each day by the school unless you are notified otherwise for special signups, etc. Please contact the teacher ahead to bring birthday treats, if you wish. Also, please let us know if your child has any food allergies.
FIELD TRIPS & SPECIAL VISITORS – A field trip or visitor is planned as often as the occasion works out for each class. Parents are often needed as drivers for these trips. Volunteers must have current car insurance and driver’s license (copies required in our office) and seat belts and car seats for each child. They must also have signed the form for Protecting God’s Children. Preschoolers may not ride in front seats. Any fees and permission slips (sent home by us) must be filled out and returned to school the last class day before the field trip. Ideas for these trips/visitors are always welcome. If you have a special interest or know of someone appropriate for preschoolers, please let us know.
SHARING (SHOW & TELL) – The 3’s have sharing on the first Thursday of the month (except September). The 4’s have sharing on the first Friday of the month (except September). Children may want to bring a book, new toy, a picture, or just about anything (no guns or violent toys, please). They may want to bring something that relates to our topic(s) for the week. Sharing can also be talking about a trip or anything a child would like to tell us about.
BIRTHDAYS – Let me know which day you plan to celebrate the birthday, and you may bring a special birthday treat. (Cookies or brownies, please. NO gooey cupcakes!) Summer birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the year, hopefully at the zoo outing in May.
ROOM PARENTS – One parent from each class is needed. Room parents help with our special celebrations for holidays, etc. and possibly other requests.
COMMUNICATION – Look for calendars, letters, notes in your child’s bag (special notes clipped outside). Also, if you have any notes to send, please clip these to your child’s bag and I will look for these. Open communication is welcome and encouraged. Please put money, etc. in envelopes labeled with your child’s name on it.
STAR OF THE WEEK – Each child will have a turn to be “Star of the Week”. On the last day before the weekend leading to your child’s turn, a letter will be sent home giving the date for your child to have his or her items displayed. Also, a general information sheet will be sent to fill out and return by your child’s first day (of Star of the Week). Your child’s photo(s)and special information along with special items (stuffed toy, books, hat, special toy) will be displayed in the class all week during your child’s week and taken home at the end of his or her week. This is a great self-esteem project! We will be sending home a Star of the Week bag of activities the Thursday or Friday before each child’s turn to be Star of the Week. There is a sheet of suggestions to use with the contents and hopefully time for parent/child to enjoy together and share with us. At the end of your turn, please return the bag and its contents so the next child will enjoy it also. Thanks.
BATHROOM – We do have a bathroom break or will take a child as needed. It would help the beginning of class if you take your child to the bathroom before you leave for school or upon arrival.
