October 15, 1999 "Should anyone press you into service for one mile, go with him for two miles" (Mt. 5:41) Our students responded to the call from the Holy Childhood program Going the Extra Mile for Kids in Need. They walked for one hour around the playground of the school , walking in step with missionaries in developing countries who are trying to reach children in need of food, medical care, shelter, and education. Each year HCA sponsors a different country. This year the country is Democratic Republic of the Congo. This country is 1370 miles wide so each student walked 6-7 laps around the parking lot. Collectively, the entire student body walked this distance. Students were given pledge sheets to help them solicit donations.
