Eight Grade Boys
Bring Home The GOLD!!!

Auburn, Illinois – March 22, 2001 marked the season’s first track event. The triangular meet was held on Auburn High School’s awesome all weather track between, Christian Elementary, Blessed Sacrament/St. Agnes and Auburn Middle School. Thirteen Events, four divisions and the Blessed Sacrament/St. Agnes’ 8th Grade Boys took a team first in their division.

 This 8th grade boy’s team comprised of just eleven 8th grade males brought home six 1st place finishes, one 2nd,five 3rds, and three 4ths. Casey Sitko won long jump with a distance of 15’ 3” while Kevin Frank took high jump honors with a height of 4’10”. Ryan Ferris sprinted to a first place finish in the 200m with a time of 26:5 just two seconds off state qualifying time and Sitko finished first in the mile at 6:01.

 The 4x100m Relay team (Farris, Frank, Gonzalez and Kluzek) finished 1st at :56:06 just seven seconds off state qualifying standards. The 4x200m Relay team (Schafer, Sitko, Squires, Gonzalez) came out with a huge lead to win at 2:02. Shave another :18 sec off that 4x200M and both those relay teams go to state.

 Final Team points: BSS/St.Agnes 50, Christian Elementary 45.9, Auburn 47.5

 Other finishers: Frank L.J. 3rd, Gonzalez H.J. 3rd, Farris 100M 3rd, Gonzalez 100M 4th, Rebee 400M 3rd,Frank 800M 2nd, Monohan 800M 3rd,Metz 800M 4th,  Squires 1600M 4th.  

“It just doesn’t get much better than that for a first meet of the season,” said Jacki Ralph, head coach. “All our kids ran their hearts out and I could not be more proud of the determination and the effort put out by all our team members. We are looking forward to an excellent season!” 

 

Hailee Elmore 7th Grader
shatters State Qualifying Time
in the Mile 

Auburn, Illinois – March 22, 2001 Hailee Elmore, Blessed Sacrament 7th grader--- first track meet of the year, first year in the sport why not have her first mile time  be a state record qualifying time? Hailee Elmore cruised the Auburn High School track with ease for a time of 5:52:2 to beat the 5:58:0 state qualifying time. She took one among three teams first place honors for the 7th grade girls at Thursday night’s meet.

Jackie Alexander took first in High Jump with a 4’2” leap of faith and the 4x200M relay team (Alexander, Elmore, Newell, and Pinkham) took first with a time of :29:7 just one second off state time. The seventh grade girls took a team second in the triangular meet against Auburn and Christian  Elementary while the 7th grade boys, a squad of only 7 took third.

 Second place finishers were: 4x100 Relay A Team (Magerl, McHenry, Metz, Schraeder), Trott 400M, Newell 200M, Jasmon 800M, McHenry H.J, 4x400M Relay (Gieger, Manker, O’Marro, Trott)

Boys: Cummins 400M, Reynolds 200M,

 Third place finishers: Metz 100M, O’Marro 400M, Schrader 200M

 Fourth place finishers: Alexander Hurdles, Jones 1600M, 4x100B-team (Ralph, Boll, Schmidt, Jones), Pinkham 200M, Trott L.J.

Boys: Boyer Hurdles, Cummins High Jump, Stegeman 800M

 The Eighth Grade Girls also took a team second with two 1st , three 2nd , two 3rd  and three 4th from a team of only five girls that is quite some showing!!! 

Elizabeth Stegeman ran the 1600 in 6:54:5 for first while Mary Kate Fitzgerald took her first attempts at the high jump to land a tie for first place at a height of 4”0. Amy Jones took second in the 100M along with Stegeman who captured the second in the 800M.

 The 4x400 Relay had a fabulous 2nd place finish performed by, Kelsey McMann, Kelly Bramlet, Emily McHenery, and Elizabeth Stegeman.

 Third place finishers: Amy Jones Hurdles, Emmy Doerfler High Jump

Fourth place finishers: Emmy Doerfler 100M, Sara Bulpit 400M, Amy Jones Long Jump.
