8th grade
Frank and Monaghan kicked it in for a ONE and TWO Finish

Pawnee, Illinois – April 3, 2001 Kevin Frank and Mike Monaghan finish one and
two in the 800M Run at the Pawnee triangular meet on Tuesday.  This 8th grade
boys' team represented by ONLY five of its team members finished second, just
ten points out of first place.

There are thirteen events held at every meet. These eighth grade boys were
entered in only seven out of the thirteen. Point earnings goe as follows:
five for first, four for second, three for third and one for fourth. The boys
took three thirds, four seconds and two thirds. Fairly impressive for such a
small group.

Ryan Farris finished first in the 100M with a time of :12.78. state time is
:11.9. Farris is one among many state hopefuls in this 8th grade class.
Frank’s first in the 800M was at a time of 2:38.55. The 4x200M relay team
(Frank, Monaghan, Kluzek, Metz) pulled out in the lead with a time of 2:05.09.

Second place finishers were: 4x100M relay team (Farris,
Metz, Frank, Kluzek),
Farris :26.2 200M :01.8 off state time, Monaghan 800M, Metz 13’ 5” in the
long jump.

Third place finishes: Monaghan long jump, Frank high jump.

The highlight of the 8th grade girls meet was Alyssa Cunningham finishing
first in the 400M with a time of 1:16.4, just 11 seconds off state time and
Amy Jones :14.05 in the 100M just :01.04 off state time.

The girls also took five team seconds: Jones 100M hurdles, Stegeman 1600M
run, 4x100M relay team
(Bramlet,
Bulpitt, Stegeman, Cunningham).

Finishing fourth was: Doerfler100M, McManus 200M, Stegeman800M, and
Fitzgerald high jump.

“It was a tough night for field events, said Coach Ralph,“but an awesome
night for relay teams. We were missing quite a few of our eighth grade boys.
We hope to have them back and working on those state times soon!”

7th grade
Seventh Grade Girls Take
First Place Honors at the Pawnee Triangular

Pawnee, Illinois – April 3, 2001 five first place finishers, four seconds,
and three thirds launch Blessed Sacrament/St.Agnes 7th grade girls to the
lead with a team total of 55 points over Waverly’s 43 points and Pawnee’s 36
points. It was all about times and relay teams Tuesday afternoon on the
Pawnee track.

The seventh grade girls 4X200 relay team (Newell, Elmore, Pinkham, Alexander)
pushing for that state time (2:01)finished first with a 2:11:67 while the
4x400 relay team (Manker, O’Marro, Trott and Jasmon) also finished first with
a time of 5:07.

Hailee Elmore proved she is truly  state bound not only in one individual
event but quite possibly two. She shaved another ten seconds off last meet’s
mile time with a time of 5:42 and received another first place finish in the
400M with a time of 1:07. State qualifying time in the 400M is 1:06. This was
a first time 400Mrun for Elmore.

Katie Jasmon took first in the 800M run with a time of 2:52 just 14 seconds
off state time. Liz Pinkham took the teams final first in the long jump with
a jump of 12’ 9½” inches.

Additional point takers were Second Place Finishers: Rebecca Schraeder
(:14.87) in the 100M :1.4 off state time, Jasmon(6:21) 1600M, Anna Newell
(:30.5) 200M :2.1 off state time and Ashley Jones (3:04) in the 800M Run.

Third Place Finishers: Ashley Ralph :20.2 100M hurdles, Pinkham :31.9 in the
200M  2seconds off state time, Karen Trott 12’ 31/2” in the long jump, Emily
McHenrey 4’2” in the high jump and Grace Geiger with a throw of 54’ 7” in
the discus.

Fourth Place Finishers:  Betsy Metz:15.06 100M, 2seconds off state, Jacki
Alexander :20.3 100M hurdles, and Alexander 4’0” in the high jump.

“The only question that still remains,” said Coach Ralph, “is just how many
people will we be taking to the state meet in May?”

The seventh grade boys took a first place finish in shot put with Jeff
Sanders throwing 30’8”. They finished with three second place honors secured
by the 4x100 relay team (Boyer, Cummins, Sheehan, Reynolds), 4x200 relay team
(Boyer, Cummins, Sheehan, Reynolds) and Sheehan in the long jump with a
13’3” leap.

Third place finishers were Sheehan 100M and Curry in the discus. Finally in
fourth were Cummins 800M and Sanders in the discus.
