Baaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!
8th grade
Chatham, Illinois – April 9, 2001—Patrick Schafer, Tom Metz, Andrew Squires
and Casey Sitko want that state qualifying time in the 4X200 Relay and tonight
they came impressively close with a time of 1:58. State time is 1:44 for the 8th
grade Boys AA Division. Will they make it? “We think it is entirely possible
if we can get them all to practice and working hard!!!!” states coach Ralph.
The message to all the 8th grade boys tonight was, “It is all about what you
want.” If you want it, “It is yours for the taking!” Tonight’s 8th grade
boys’ team consisted of ONLY five 8th grade boys entering 5 of 13 events
finishing third. Likewise, there were ONLY 4 seventh grade boys entering 5 of 13
events and finishing 3rd. First Place honors went to Jeff Sanders in both the
discus and shot with a throw of 88’ 8” and 31’6” consecutively.
Other finishers for 8thgrade boys were: second for the 4x100 relay team (Kluzek,
Sitko, Metz, Squires) with a time of :54.0 and third place for Patrick Schafer
in the mile with a time of 6:52.7
Brandon Curry ran a very impressive 100M with a time of: 16.9 for a first
time event (7th grade) and Patrick Boyer received a time of :21.2 in the 110M
hurdles (7th grade).
“The key to this group’s season is to and get them to practice and keep them
working,” said coach Ralph. “We have a lot of talent in this group and they
have had a very impressive season so far.”

7th grade
Chatham, Illinois – April 9,2001- Seventh Grade
girls made a double showing in tonight’s 100M-hurdle race. Jacki Alexander and
Karen Trott ran at the 8th grade girls level and finished second and third with
times of :20.15 and :20.99. Emily Boll took home the gold at the 7th grade girls
level with a time of :21.0 while Ashley Ralph took the bronze with a time of
:22.26.
Hailee Elmore maintained her style and grace with two more first place honors,
with a time of 5:41 in the mile and 1:08 in the 400M. Pack your bags for state
young lady!
Seventh grade girls went 1,2 and 3 in the 200M with Anna Newell sprinting to a
first at :31.6, Liz Pinkham right next to her at :31.9 and Kimberly Magerl with
third at :32.9!
Jacki Alexander took another first place finish in the 800M. This was a first
time run for her and soon to be a favorite. Her time was 2:45 just :21 off state
time. Look for Emily Boll to join her and Katie Jasmon tomorrow night at
Elkhart. Jasmon’s finishing time was 3:00.
“The sudden on set of the Midwest heat took a toll on times tonight,” states
coach Ralph, “but the girls still pushed forward like they always do.
They are tough and they know what they want.”
Finishing second: 4x100relay (Schraeder, Metz, Alexander, Pinkham), 4x200 relay
(Shraeder, Metz, Elmore, Newell). Liz Pinkham also took second in the long jump
an event she is looking to perfect!
Finishing third: Grace Geiger in the discus (55’11”), Emily McHenry in high
jump (4’2”) and the 4X100B relay (Ralph, Trott, McHenry, Magerl)
The seventh grade girls took a team second overall!
Eighth grade girls took a second place team finish as well and they were
all about securing second place honors tonight with regard to many events.
Amy Jones finished second in the long jump (12’10”). Keeley Miller finished
second in the discus, Alyssa Cunningham finished second in the 400M(1:14), Amy
Jones finished second in the 200M (:30.8), and the 4x100 relay team (McManus,
Fitzgerald, Jones, Doerfler) finished second as well.
First Place honors go to Amy Jones in the 100M with a mighty impressive time of
:14.5 a mere one second off state time and the 4X200 relay team (Doerfler,
Cunningham, Fitzgearld, McManus).
There were no entries in the 4X400 relay or the 1600 tonight with Elizabeth
Stegeman and Sara Bulpitt out! “These girls were sorely missed and we look
forward to their return at Tuesday night’s meet,” said coach Ralph.
Keeley Miller took third in the 800M with a time of 3:12 a first time run for
her also, soon to be a favorite!
