Jasmon, Bloxdorf and Boll Go 1,2,3 in the 800M Run

New Berlin, Illinois --May 1, 2001 Saint Agnes/Blessed Sacrament 7th Grade
Girls rocked at the ISD triangular Wednesday afternoon with another team
victory scoring 62 points over Virginia's 47 and ISD's 28. Adding to that
team total was a 1,2,3, finish by Katie Jasmon, Allie Bloxdorf and Emily Boll
in the 800M Run.

Hailee Elmore remains unchallenged in the field for the mile and the 400M
Dash. She took two more first place finishes in both events. Karen Trott
finished first in the 100M hurdles and Grace Geiger threw the discus 59'1"
for   a first place finish in her event. Both the 4X200M and the 4X400M relay
teams took first place points as well. They were Anna Newell, Liz Pinkham,
Betsy Metz and Elmore in the 4X200 and Maureen O'Marro, Stephanie Manker,
Trott, and Jasmon in the 4X400M.

Second place point takers were: Jasmon in the mile, O'Marro in the 400M,  
Becca Schraeder in the 100M, Newell in the 200M and Emily McHenry in high
jump.

Finishing third were: Ashley Ralph in the 100M hurdles, the 4X100M relay team
(Magerl, McHenry,Bloxdorf, Schraeder) and Kimberly Magerl in the high jump.

The final team points came from fourth place winners, Metz in the 100M
Pinkham in the long jump and Geiger again in the shot put.

"Our seventh grade girls are looking awesome," said Coach Ralph. "Sectionals
is just two meets and ten days away. What these girls don't do this year they
will indeed do next year. It is hard to believe that for most of them it is
just their first track experienced. They run like seasoned veterans. I am
looking forward to a healthy eighth grade girls team next spring. They will
be unstoppable!"

 

Elizabeth Stegeman Goes the Distance

Jacksonville, Illinois -- May 1, 2001 Twenty-four hundred meters is a long
way to run in one night but Elizabeth Stegeman made it look easy to her field
of contenders by placing first in both the 1600M Run and the 800M run.

Amy Jones sprinted across the finish line in the 100M hurdles for first and
the 4X200M relay team (Strayer, Stegeman, Geiger, Cunningham) took a final
first for the Saint Agnes/Blessed Sacrament 8th grade girls. The team
finished second with 50 points against Virginia's 60 points and ISD's 23
points at Wednesday afternoon's triangular meet.

Awarded with second place points were: the 4X100 relay team (McManus,
Fitzgerald, Ralph, Doerfler), Alyssa Cunningham in the 400M Dash, Amy Jones
in the 200M Dash, Ashley Jones in the 800M Run, and Mary Kate Fitzgerald in
the high jump.

Adding third place points were: Emily Boll in the 100M hurdles, Ashley Jones
in the 1600M Run, Emily McHenry in the 400M, Emmy Doerfler in the 200M and
Amy Jones in the long jump.

The final team points came from fourth place finishers: Fitzgerald in the
100M, Doerfler in the high jump and Stegeman in the discus.

Outstanding performances by the 7th and 8th grade boys teams were: Ryan
Farris with a 4'10" leap of faith in the high jump. However unorthodox his
approach, the boy does have a very impressive vertical jump. Jeff Sanders is
pressing into state qualifying position in both the shot and the discus. He
took first in both field events. Pat Sheehan placed a final first in the long
jump.

Going home with second place finishes were Metz in the long jump, Frank in
the 800M Run and the 4X100M relay team with a time of 1:00.20 (Sheehan, Frank
Squires and Monaghan).

Taking third were Farris in high jump, Farris in the 100M and the 4X200M
relay team. (Farris, Squires, Schafer, Metz) with a time of 2:05.68.

Fourth place finishes came from Patrick Boyer in the 110M hurdles, Matt
Cummins in the 400M dash and Kevin Frank in the long jump.
