"Jasmon
Pushes the Pace at the Wildlife Sanctuary"
Chatham, Illinois – September 11, 2001-- Tuesday's CC meet against the depth
of Chatham Glenwood's very strong team proved to be challenge for the
B.S.S./S.A.S girls team. A meet thought to be a duo turned out five full
teams and a total of 72 runners. Katie Jasmon came in fifth on the heels of
Emily Katalinich a former B.S.S. student now running for Franklin. Jasmon
posted a time of 14:06, one full minute faster than her best so far this
season! Keep an eye on Jasmon she is familiar with being statebound.
The top 7 B.S.S./S.A.S girls team holds some consistencies yet leaves the
door open to some changes as well. With Emily Schmidt injured and our St.
Agnes girls playing in the regional softball tournament the door swings wide
open to up and coming sixth graders Kiley Enno (17:17) and Kaitlyn
White(17:18). Already well secured on our top seven team are sixth graders
Melissa Gay holding on to the #3 spot and Darian Dolenc grasping tightly to
the #4 spot. Both girls posted respectable times at Tuesdays meet of 15:27
and 15:29.
Ashley Ralph secured the #2 spot posting her best time of 15:08 at the
Wildlife Sanctuary. Ashley Jones and Allie Bloxdorf are wavering in and out
of the top 7 due to other sports commitments. Both girls posted times of
15:28 and 16:37 respectively. By the way, when is softball finally over we
need these two back at practice!!
Olivia Gay another 6th grader ran a great race on Tuesday posting her course
best of 16:52 moving her into position #8 on the girls team. Rebecca
Schraeder hangs onto the five spot with her best time of 16:11 while Katie
Korza secures the 6th spot running her best time of 17:01.
Other runners posting times on Tuesday were, Anne Cumming, Emily Schmidt,
Leslie Criscione, Taylor Murphy, Kimberly Coakley and Megan Coakley. But,
most remarkable for Tuesday's meet would be Rachel Jennings who took three
full minutes off her two-mile time!! No matter what, you gotta love that!
Final Team Scores fell as follows: Glenwood (1) with 19 points, Franklin (2)
with 56 points just edging out B.S.S./S.A.S. (3) with 79 points taking
positions 5,13,16,19, and 21, Jefferson (4) with 118 points and Christian
Elementary (4) with 118 points.

"McDermott
Rises to the Challenge "
Chatham, Illinois – September 11, 2001-- Just as Hugh suspected Glenwood
Chatham soccer buddies dominated the CC race at the Wildlife Sanctuary on
Tuesday. For weeks, the whole team heard about the speed Glenwood Chatham
retained on its Boys CC team and it was all true as Glenwood ran an almost
perfect race securing spots 1,3,4,5, and 6. However intimidating this might
have been, Hugh McDermott did rise to the challenge. With a 6:25 second mile
split time he made his move in the last 100 yards just edging out a Jefferson
runner posting a personal best of 13:09 for a tenth place team finish.
Patrick Boyer placed 12th for the team in a time of 13:17 while Nicholas
Feller ran an extremely impressive race posting another personal best of
13:43. "We were grateful to have both the Feller boys and Boyer back for
this
race," said Coach Ralph.
Colin McCormick in a consistent effort to always run a personal best did the
job again with a time of 14:00. Michael Enno set yet another personal best
taking 7 seconds off his time posting 14:23. Watch for Enno to be running
under 14 before the season ends if it kills him.
Most remarkable at Tuesday's meet were the performances of our sixth graders
once again! Trey Dhabalt and Michael Feller ran an amazing race running side
by side with times of 14:51 and 14:52 respectively. Devin Mapes, a seventh
grader, finished with a 15:08 while tough little Peter McDermott, another
sixth grader, knocked 32 seconds off his time running a 15:14.
Other runners posting times in Tuesday's meet were, Ben Ahrens (15:16), Andy
Ralph(15:59), Max Guiliford (16:28)and Danny Lord(18:27).
Final Team Points fell as follows: Glenwood Chatham 19, Franklin 68,
Christian Elementary 81, B.S.S./S.A.S. 92 and Jefferson 127. B.S.S./S.A.S.
finished fourth securing spots 10,12,18,23, and 29.
