Sacrament/St. Agnes Track Springfield, IL 62704 News Release April 9, 2002 A Little Bit Country Elkhart, Illinois – April 2002-- The BSS/SAS track stars traveled to Elkhart last week for a track and field meet only there was more field than there was track. You might say the setting had a sort of, cross country feel to it? The Elkhart track was a 200M course run around cones on the baseball field. Hurdles were run in two lanes on the grass as was the 100M dash and high jump was indoors on the gym floor. Coming into such different surroundings, eyebrows were raised and nay sayers were abundant. Although, the scenery was indeed beautiful on such a sunny day. It was truly a test of the mind effecting the body's performance at all levels. Afterall, Track is............. 90% mental. At all three levels, boys and girls, sixth through eighth grade BSS/SAS won the meet hands down proving that they were able to face all adversity with grace, charm and a lot of talent. Details aren't important. Times aren't important this go around. What matters is the team pulled it together and took home the gold. It was just another glorified practice in preparation for the Sectional meet. Watch for lots of details coming soon on the Decatur Invitational. Rumor has it Bridgett Helms ran state time in the 100M and Michael Stieren is just tenth's of a second off state time in the 200M. many more exciting details to come. Final Results are not yet in.
