Stieren(:27.7) and Kavish(:29.9) finished third and fourth respectively in the 200M for the 8th graders. Had they run as seventh graders they would have finished first and second place respectively beating their opponents by two full seconds. That is a lot in a 200M dash.

All seventh grade boys will compete as 7th graders at the meet in Chatham. Looking forward to a huge victory from them there.

Bitter Cold in Pawnee Doesn’t Stop BSS/SAS Runners

Chatham, Illinois – April 3, 2002—Breanne Sergent, Erin Malone, Darian Dolenc, Jessica Orlando, Molly Bramlet, Kiley Enno, Michael Enno, Devin Mapes, Sam Gallon, Casey Sheehan and Val Contri did not let the frigid temperatures of the season opener alter their performances at the Pawnee track. All of the above brought home the gold for BSS/SAS 7th grade teams.

Sergent started the run on gold with a first place finish in the 100M(14.92). Darian Dolenc tasted her share of glory with a first place finish in the 800M(3:11). The 4x200M relay team (Orlando, Bramlet, Malone, Sergent) finished an impressive first with a time of 2:20. Malone wasn’t satisfied with just one first in the relay, so, she went for the hat trick taking three total first place finishes; the others being, the 200M (:31.95) and HJ (3’6”).

Adding to team points with second place finishes were Sergent in the 100M Hurdles(:18.7) just one second off state time, Orlando in the 100M (15:03) and 200M(32:12), Kiley Enno in the 1600M (7:07), Ashley Eck, Anne Cumming, Dolenc and Enno in the 4x100M relay(1:06) and the 4x400M relay(5:55). Team totals for 7th grade girls fell as follows: Pawnee 65, BSS/SAS 54 and Cathedral 2.

With a little effort, look for Michael Enno to make state times leading the 7th grade boys team at Pawnee with two firsts proving distance is indeed his strong suit. Enno took first in both the 1600M(6:18) and the 800M (3:04). A final first place finish came from the 4x400M relay team C. Sheehan, Mapes, Gallon and Contri in 5:46. Contri is a sixth grader at SAS and an extreme hopeful for this BSS/SAS team!

Placing second were Kevin Klemm in the 100M hurdles(:21.0), Mapes in the 1600M (6:59), Bryce YoHo in the 400M (1:28), Tommy Lord in HJ, M. Enno in LJ, and the 4x100 relay team, Lord, Gallon, Dhabalt and Contri(1:08). Dhabalt, YoHo and Lord are also sixth graders with a bright future in track.
