The kindergarten mission project for the month of October, "Help Fill the Food Bank" was a great opportunity for the 6th and 7th grade students to get involved on a level a little larger than bringing in a can of food.  After watching the HCA mission film on the refugees in Sudan, they discusses what it must be like to be away from home and hungry.  The discussion was brought back home and the students broke into three groups:  breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Each group brainstormed different non-perishables foods for each meal and then decided who was going to bring what.  Each student was to bring one item but all got carried away and each brought several for their particular meal.  After compiling all the food, the students were amazed at how much could be accomplished.  What seemed like a drop in the bucket became enough food to feed several families for several weeks.
