This St. Patrick's day the 6th graders learned about the potato famine that occured in Ireland in 1845. They made potato men to commemorate the event. On the hat of the potato they wrote about the famine and how it affected the people. Then, they also learned about the geography of Ireland and made maps on the bellies of the potatoes. Finally, they found out about the significance of the Blarney Stone and wrote that on the hands.
