Almost a Clean Sweep at the Pawnee Triangular
Springfield, Illinois - April 2003 7th grade girls BSS-SAS 78, PDK 53,
Franklin 0; 7th grade boys BSS-SAS 68, PDK 56, Franklin 8; 8th grade girls PDK
56, BSS-SAS 51, Franklin 15; 8th grade boys BSS-SAS 66, PDK 47, Franklin 21.
Both 7th grade boys and girls and 8th grade boys swept PDK and Franklin Tuesday
night while the 8th grade girls took a disappointing 4-point loss to PDK.
Running with ONLY four eighth grade girls on their team and taking 8 out of 13
first place individual titles still seems fairly impressive.
It was bitter cold in Pawnee at the Lincoln, Pawnee, BSS-SAS triangular on
Tuesday night. Two relay teams missed their races due to warming up in a huddle
at the edge of the track and not hearing their race called. The track was barely
lined and overall conditions were not the best. However, the BSS-SAS Track Stars
still managed to pull out a victory at many levels. Jeff Painter broke a school
record in the 100M for the 7th grade boys running :12.9 as did Bridget Helms in
that same event running :13.29. Helms beat her best time from last year's season
as well. Chrissie Harth threw herself into a school record pitching the shot put
21' to beat last year's record of 20'.
Overall, it was a tough night and times were beneath goals set. There were
however several PR's set and some times and distances bettered from last week.
In the face of adversity, it was a learning experience for BSS-SAS.
The following is a complete list of results. Throwers and Jumpers must report
times to stats girls or they are not listed!!! Next up Pawnee rescheduled for
April 15, 2003 at 4:00.
