A “game” was held each Friday with grades competing against each other. The grade with the most box tops per student recorded a WIN, while the opposing grade recorded a LOSS.

Grade 2 and Grade 6 played in the World Series game on Friday, October 22. Grade 6 won with 12.7 box tops per student vs. Grade 2 with 11.9 box tops per student. Close game! Grade 6 enjoyed a non-uniform jersey day and a “World Series” lunch with hot dogs, nachos, soda and other surprises. Grade 2 received sundaes in helmet cups.

The challenge will be - should you turn in ALL your box tops each week or save some to better compete against a “tougher” grade another week? Please do not discuss your numbers with your opposing grade. This will be a guessing game for everyone, making this contest one of chance. The grade with the most box tops will not necessarily be the grade that wins in the end.

How will you know how many box tops you should enter each week? One way might be to poll your students to see how many they think they can bring in. Divide the total by the 4 weeks, knowing that you may need some at the end if you make it to the play-offs.
