VICTORY OVER CTK ONCE MORE
Springfield Rotary Park -- September 16, 2004
Last Thursday the ladies of BSS/SAS got the job done
against rival CTK with a 15 point margin over the women in green. It was a
hot day (isn't it always at Rotary Park?) but there was a little
breeze so it wasn't quite as brutal as our first competition there.
The gals had several runners attaining "PERSONAL BEST TIMES"
at this meet, which is indicative of the effort the ladies are putting forth
in practice. Cutting more than ONE MINUTE off
of their previous best times were hard workers Molly Drake
and Brittany Clasen. Decreasing their
times by 45 SECONDS or more were superstars Morgan
Clem, Kate Dresser, Lauren Lanzotti, Katie Loscher, and
Kaylee Sables. Others achieving personal best times for the day
were superathletes Brigid Cavanagh, Emily Delvo, Kayla Kolis, Kelly
Korza, Jessica Megginson, Erin Saal, Mackenzie Wortley, and Julia Wykoff.
The Top 7 BSS/SAS runners were led by ever
reliable Julia Wykoff (13:31), followed by skilled runner
Jessica Megginson (14:10), and hard workers Kaylee
Sables and Emily Delvo, both with 15:05. Next
across the line were promising distance runners Kayla Kolis
(15:11), Mackenzie Wortley (15:23), and Morgan Clem
(15:41).
WAY TO GO GIRLS!
BSS/SAS BOYS RULE
Well it was truly nothing but maroon and gold as these superstars made a
statement, beating CTK by 123 points (that is not a typo, it was one
hundred and twenty three!) and flogging Jefferson by 87 points.
Several of these young athletes attained personal best times
at this meet, proving that diligent training and determination can really
pay off as the season progresses. Knocking MORE THAN ONE MINUTE
off of their times were Jarred Coady, Nick Enno, Brendan Finnell,
and Joe LaFata. Along with these tremendous accomplishments, we
had a number of other young men attaining personal best times
at this meet. They include hard workers Dan Debrey, Max Favero,
Kyle Johnson, Michael Kelly, Nathaniel Langfelder, Corbin Mapes,
and Jake Meyer. GREAT WORK GUYS!
It is noteworthy to mention that ALL of the Top
7 runners attained personal best times in
this meet as well. It is the first time this year this has occurred, and
shows the collective effort being put forth by all on this team! Crossing
the line first for BSS/SAS was super runner Mike
Witsman (12:53) followed closely by Sean Ryan
(12:56). These racers finally broke that 13 minute barrier! Not far
behind were Sean Orlando (13:04), Michael Ralph
(13:21), and Joey White (13:44), ALL of whom put forth a
supreme effort. Next were distance veteran Zach Jones
(14:04) and Griffin Ludwig (14:15), both giving very
nice performances.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE! YOU ARE LOOKING
FANTASTIC!
