Petersburg -- Tuesday, September 7, 2004

The BSS/SAS girls' cross country team forged their way to a narrow victory over Petersburg Porta last Tuesday afternoon.  The meet was held in Petersburg on a hot, sunny day.  What a welcome change from most recent cross country and track meets there where it seemed to rain relentlessly on us the entire time!

While it is difficult for a distance runner to attain a "personal best" time on a very hot day, we had some ladies from the BSS/SAS team who managed to pull that off at this meet.  All of the hard work and training is paying off, and it was go time for these gals in Petersburg.  Girls running a personal best time were Brigid Cavanagh (19:40), Sarah Coe (25:34), Emily Delvo (15:42), Kayla Kolis (16:40), Amy Marzalek (19:25), and Carlye Marzalek (21:48).  GREAT JOB LADIES!

The top 7 runners crossing the line for the BSS/SAS team were our reliable Julia Wykoff (14:09), second in command Jessica Megginson (14:49), tried & true Emily Delvo (15:42), and very hard working Kaylee Sables (16:33), Madie Alexander (16:36), Kayla Kolis (16:40), and Katie Dresser (16:42).

Petersburg -- Tuesday, September 7, 2004

For the first time in many years the men of BSS/SAS took charge of the Petersburg meet and defeated the Porta team.  Our BSS/SAS team is strong and deep, and they have proven it once again!

Again, on a very difficult day and difficult course to attain a personal best time on, the following young athletes managed to do just that and deserve kudos for their efforts:  Brendan Cavanagh (20:36), Nathaniel Langfelder (15:31), Griffin Ludwig (14:42), Corbin Mapes (16:23), and Sean Ryan (13:26).  SUPERB JOB GENTLEMEN!

First to cross the line for BSS/SAS was distance mogul Mike Witsman with a time of 13:21; that time also got him 2nd place overall in the meet.  Second in command was Sean Ryan with a time of 13:26 and an overall 4th place finish.  Reliable newcomer Sean Orlando (13:35) was not far behind.  Sixth grade superstar Michael Ralph (14:07) was among our top runners, as were tried & true competitor Joey White (14:28), up and coming runner Griffin Ludwig (14:42) and our reliable Peter McDermott (14:55).

More news about our entire team of superstars will be forthcoming once the Bradley Invitational (last night) and Petersburg Invitational (this morning) results are finalized.  Hopefully all of our runners are getting some much needed rest & relaxation this evening after a couple of tough meets!
