BSS/SAS Girls Keep the EDGE for a Victory!

BSS/SAS 27        IL CENTRAL 28
Mason City, IL (August 24, 2004)

The BSS/SAS girls' cross country team hung in there on a less than ideal day for a narrow victory over Illinois Central in the first meet of the season.  It was raining and cold during this race, but that did not deter our hearty runners as they did their best and pulled off a win to start the season off right!

The top seven gals to cross the line included distance standout Julia W. (13:52), talented newcomer Jessica M. (14:28), and tried & true runner Kaylee S. (16:02).  Next was an impressive run from Katie D. (16:19), who cut 1:39 off last year's time at this same meet.  Also doing a fantastic job were Julie M. (16:22), Emily D. (16:49) and Kayla K. (16:51).

Other gals running strong races and likely to be seen in the future top 7 runners are Morgan C. (16:52), Katherine D. (16:55), and Kelly K. (17:00).  Showing tremendous improvement from last year and cutting 3:35 off of her time from this same meet in 2003 was Elizabeth F..  Our team has many, MANY wonderful ladies who all did a great job and helped our team look large and STRONG!  We are thrilled to have so many young girls with strong hearts and lungs helping this team and doing the BSS/SAS co-op proud!  GREAT JOB LADIES.

BSS/SAS GUYS Hang tough through the storm

BSS/SAS 30    IL CENTRAL 25
Mason City, IL (August 24, 2004)

Even though they did not win the meet, with the rain pelting them and  a chilly wind blowing, the BSS/SAS boys showed what they were made of and did a fantastic job.

The top seven charges to cross the line included distance veteran Mike W. (13:02) with a phenomenal run, Sean R. (13:33) with an impressive race, and newcomer Sean O. (13:38) showing his talent for running.  Next were supreme efforts from Joey W. (14:23), who cut a full 2 minutes off of his time from last year, and Zach J. (14:24), who cut more than 3 minutes off of his time from last year.  Newcomer Michael R. (14:27) had a strong race, and Griffin L. (14:49) showed improvement and looked very good as well.

Other guys to watch from this team and likely to be found in the top 7 in future meets are Peter M. (14:56) and Eric D. (14:58).  Showing tremendous improvement from this same meet last year were Brendan C., who cut 6:36 off of his time, and Mason S., who cut his time IN HALF!  WOW!  This team has many, MANY fantastic runners and future cross country powerhouses on board.  All on the team contributed to the impressive showing in Mason City, and we look forward to seeing all of them perform again at Lincoln Park on Tuesday.  FANTASTIC JOB GUYS!!!!!
