FABULOUS AT FRANKLIN

Saturday was a beautiful day in Franklin, IL, as the runners of BSS/SAS left the crowd in awe as many asked, "who is the team with all of the letters?"  Seriously, I heard that.  The girls caught the attention of competitors with a 3rd place finish out of 27 teams, and the boys left their mark with a 4th place finish out of 27 teams.    It should also be noted that the caliber of the teams at this invitational was quite impressive.  Our runners faced very steep competition, but both boys and girls teams brought home trophies and medals!

For those unfamiliar with the Franklin course, it is the essence of cross country.  Filled with hills, trenches, and uneven terrain, it will undoubtedly be the most difficult course our runners face this season.  Improving a race time is always a tremendous accomplishment, but to get a season's best time on this course is utterly amazing!  BSS/SAS superstars accomplishing this feat were hard workers  MICHAEL RALPH (13:09),  KYLE JOHNSON (16:08), ISAAC BALES (18:18), GABE KRUKOWSKI (19:00), and JARED KINK (19:29).   Gals who mastered their race at Franklin with season personal best times were super striders JESSICA MEGGINSON (13:02), EMILY DELVO (13:29), MADDIE ALEXANDER (14:09), KAYLEE SABLES (16:04), ALEXANDRIA MAILLET (16:25), CHRISTINE MAILLET (18:37), ELLEN WESLY (18:40), SIERRA GONZALEZ (20:32), and AMBER MODER (24:52).  Congratulations to these runners and all of our runners who tackled this challenging course!

The Franklin Invitational had an open race, then flighted races for 1st through 7th runners on the teams.  The top 5 runners in each flight received a medal, and our prize performers brought home some hardware!  Finishing 3rd place in the 1st runner flight was trailmaster SEAN RYAN (12:02), and taking 5th place in the 4th runner flight was power pacer ERIC DELVO (13:16).

For the ladies, victory veterans JESSICA MEGGINSON (13:02) and EMILY DELVO (13:29) each took 4th place in the 1st and 2nd runner flights, respectively.  Majestic milers MACKENZIE WORTLEY (14:22) and MADDIE ALEXANDER (14:09) finished 3rd place and 2nd place in the next flights.  KAYLA KOLIS (14:42) tore up the course and received 2nd in the 5th runner flight, while dynamic duo MARIA LOWIS (14:42) and KRISTIN GRIMSLEY (15:26) garnered 3rd place and 5th place in their individual flights.

What pillars of perseverance we have on our BSS/SAS team!  You all are AMAZING and we are so proud of you!
