"What she has done will
also be told,
in memory of her." Mark 26:13b |

I Wish You
Half
by
JoLynn Plato, colleague and friend
March 3, 2007
I
wish you half of her joyfulness…
-when a child grows in faith
-when a lesson went better than planned
-when a student finally understands a math problem
I wish you half of her sense of humor…
-finding humor in seemingly ordinary
situations
-laughing until tears streamed at
lunch in the teacher’s lounge
-embracing life’s ironies with a
smile
I wish you half of her curiosity…
-pondering the workings of the world
-learning best practices for teachers
in many content areas
I wish you half of her selflessness…
-embracing life in the footsteps of
St. Therese
-rushing over to help a friend in
need, no matter what the hour
-building houses for Habitat families
-always giving everyone the benefit
of the doubt
-nurturing students, colleagues,
friends, and family
-working on mission projects during
spare time
-affecting the lives of approximately
1300 students and their families during twelve years at Christ the King and
fifteen
years at Blessed
Sacrament
I wish you half of her faithfulness to family…
-being a patient and loving daughter
-being a supportive and caring sister
-being a doting and proud aunt
I wish you half of her love of the Catholic faith…
-visiting with Christ in the
Eucharist in the wee hours
-being moved to tears during Living
Stations
-serving as lector and Eucharistic
minister
-praying with her Marianist group
-reading books to deepen her faith
-reflecting on being a better
Christian woman day by day
Should God grant you even half of the virtues possessed by Marita, you would be
blessed in abundance.
