Great Baseball Season!
Our 2011/2012 ESA boys' baseball team made school history and set state records on their way to a second place finish in the IESA 1A State Baseball Tournament. Congratulations to the Bruins on their successful season of 17-2 and their runner-up trophy! The Bruins set state records for the longest game in state championship history, for the most runs (17) scored in a championship game, and for the most runs (8) scored by a runner-up in a championship game. Individually, Frank Hollahan threw only the third no-hitter in IESA state tournament history, and Patrick Belz set a new record for the most hits (7) in the 1A state tournament.
Congratulations to the entire team, including eighth graders, Patrick, Erik, Jeremy, Daniel, Frank, Dustin, and Vinny; seventh graders, Charlie, Konnor, Matthew, Jack and Connor; and sixth graders, Ethan, Sean & Jim. Congratulations and special thanks to our coaches, Mike Ketchum, Dave Ficke, Steve French, and Frank Gardner. Special thanks to all of the BSS fans who supported the team!
